A day at the flea market...

There really is nothing like the feeling of walking around a flea market on a beautiful sunny day. Especially when you have two great companions at your side! My hubs and my little Mars are the greatest "treasure hunting" buddies anyone could ask for!

The Mister and I are forever frequenting estate sales and flea markets, whenever we get a smidgen of free time. Its definitely a  bit easier when its just the two of us, but that's not very often the situation. So, when we do bring little Mars along, we make it fun for her...playing eye spy, giving her a few bucks to put in her pockets and spend however she pleases, and calling it "treasure hunting" ((which it very much so is)) and seeing what kind of treasures each of us can discover.

On this particular day, Mars found and purchased some old cars, a plastic parrot on a hoop, and a lemonade. Pretty good finds if i do say so myself.

I however wasn't having such luck...UNTIL...we came across this one table and I hear my hubs say "Oooooo! You're going to want to see this!" ((by the way...did I mention how amazing he is?))
And...there it was...the one moment you wait for and you are so happy when it arrives...I had finally found MY table...the one that makes the whole trip worth it! Filled with vintage Fisher Price goodies (((a HUGE weakness for me))) and even a vintage Calico Critters ferry boat! ((the little fisherman with the sideburns is ADORABLE))
So, needless to say, I think I bought all of their toys and loaded Mars up in her wagon, with barely enough room for herself  :::see pic above::: and i was a super happy camper!
I also picked up some amazing vintage Old Maid cards (another weakness) I'm a sucker for all the old illustrations. Super cute!

And...last but not least...I picked up this HUGE jar of local organic honey. *A very sweet old lady told me that if I take a tablespoon a day of LOCAL honey...it will cure my allergies. She said that it would take some time to kick in (6 months or so) but if you keep up with it, you shouldn't have allergy problems again. She said that she has been doing this for a while now and hasn't had allergies in over 7 years!* I'm willing to give it a go! I'll let you know around this time next year if it works!

*Have you had any good finds lately?*
**Or even some good home remedies like the honey?**

From all of us over here at Octopus Pie...

Happy Labor Day!

  1. Those are some great finds! Let us know how the honey goes. I've been meaning to start that regimen myself. It would be SO much better than allergy pills.

  2. I'm right there with you on the love of flea markets! And you got quite a great haul of vintage FP goodies. That phone in particular is making me swoon!

I'm a big believer in local honey, too! I have heard of that allergy theory before and I don't know if it is true or not, but I'm certainly willing to try! YEAH!

And thanks so much for your comment on today's post! I gotta say, Your little Mars is quite a cutie! Ever though of entering Mars as a Modern Kiddo?

    1. My little Mars is the one who actually spotted the phone! She was having such a blast in the back of her wagon, making phone calls to "Spongebob and Nana." I got the biggest kick when she popped the back open and that cute little doll sprung up!

I'm super excited to see if this honey thing works! If it does...ohhh man! I will be one happy camper ((quite literally actually)) come next spring/summer!

I am definitely going to enter little Mars as a Modern Kiddo! I've been wanting to, I just want to get some more good photos of her in her vintage threads ;)

Thank you so much for stopping by!

  3. You scored all of those goodies in ONE DAY! Amazing! I'm pretty sure my heart would've skipped a beat if I'd laid eyes on that Pop-up pal phone. Well done.

    1. Thanks so much!
I was quite the excited one on the drive home!
Treasure hunting is one of my biggest passions :)
That phone is SUPER cute! I wish the sticker on the bottom was in a little better condition, but sometimes that wear and tear makes it feel that more nostalgic ;)

  4. It looks like it was a beautiful day! :) My friend is doing the same thing with local honey for his allergies and swears by it! (He also eats a bit of the honeycomb each day, too.) I hope it works for you!

  5. It was perfect!
If I could find a place that was 65-75 degrees ALL year long...I would move there in a heartbeat!

The honey is ridiculously delicious but I'm finding my trouble is the same as it is with taking vitamins...I forget to take it every day :(

I do have the jar in my cupboard so I'm thinking I'm going to just put in right next to the kitchen sink so I remember to take it!

I mean, I do dishes at least twice a day so there is no excuse for not seeing it and remembering to take it huh? Haha.

Hope you are having an awesome day!
